Split leather
Bonded leather as the lowest graded.
Now,let’s learn some useful skills and help us how to recognize them.
1.Touch the Leather
Genuine leather touching in softer, more flexible and natural, and it has a strong recover ability when you press the surface. And faux leather has an artificially smooth, hard and often plastic feel to it.Compared to the real leather, PU leather tends to be more easy stretch and change colors when pulled.
2.Smell the Item
Real leather and fake leather smells different. Real leather is made of real animal skin, so it’s pleasant smell in a special natural leather scent. Faux leather usually smells in chemical scent like vinyl or plastic.
3.Take a look at the backside
The leather backside coating is quite diffident when compare genuine leather and PU leather. It’s suede cover for genuine leather backside, and faux leather normally treated with gauze or thin fabric.
4.Burn it
Genuine leather has high resistance to fire and it won’t immediately be engulfed in flames when burned, ans it only char slightly, and smell like burnt hair, faux leather will catch flame and smells like burning plastic. Plastic catch fire easily, because plastic is made of petroleum.
5.Drop a droplet of water on it
When we drop a small amount of water on genuine leather, it actually will absorb some water, in only a few seconds (except for waterproof leather). This absorption helps the material remain supple. While the PU leather don’t have absorbing tendency, and water will simply slide out right of its surface.
